This presentation is based on the exhibition by the same name that was curated by Donald Albrecht in conjunction with the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco. The exhibition is now at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City where it will be on display through January 17, 2016
This presentation explores the contributions of Jewish designers, architects, patrons, and merchants in the creation of a distinctly modern American domestic landscape. The work of Marcel Breuer, George Nelson, Julius Shulman, Paul Rand, Anni Albers, Rudolph Schindler, Richard Neutra, Henry Dreyfuss, and Ruth Adler Schnee, among many others, encompassed the full range of the residential environment, from the large-scale subdivision to the single-family house, the furnishings within and the marketing that broadcast this new modern home across America.
Complimentary indoor parking available.
