This special evening will feature a private look at the dazzling car collection with curator and restoration specialist Stephen Murphy. The Richard H. Driehaus Collection at Chicago Vintage Motor Carriage showcases the best of American automotive design and engineering from the Classic and Post-War eras. Richard Driehaus is a longtime supporter of CADS and was a major contributor to the CADS Survey Project.
And a special preview of our highly-anticipated book Art Deco Chicago: Making America Modern, scheduled for publication in Fall 2017. This important new work explores Chicago’s pivotal role in the development of modern American design, which transformed American life and helped create our modern, middle class consumer society. The large-format book features 100 key objects, beautifully illustrated and accompanied by lively, insightful text by over 30 contibutors. Five groundbreaking essays by recognized scholars will present differing views and interpretations of the evolving study of Art Deco.
Tickets are $50 per person. Space is limited.
Proceeds from the event will support the publication of the book, a critical component of CADS public educational program designed to promote and preserve Chicago’s Deco legacy.
